Cambodia OCIP: #2nd day

The second day was really fruitful and enjoyable! I like the day! It was lovely!

I was ordered to wake up early in the morning at 4am which was 5am in Malaysia to prepare the breakfast for the children over there and of course ourselves! She purposely took my sleeping beg beside her just to demand me that to wake her up early in the morning because she was also ordered to do the same job as me and she stated that she afraid she couldn't wake up. I was actually didn't know my own feeling. It was like bittersweet; bitter more than sweet. I felt happy because I thought I was useful at that time at least she asked me to sleep beside her; I felt sad as I was only needed when she thought I was useful at that moment. That feeling was like been used! She neither share happiness nor sadness with me, only when she lost the one. I slept with tears and she asked me t turn another side which faced her. Sadly, I rejected as I was tearing and told her honestly with lie, " My tears will drop every night before sleep." I got no idea she believed or not? The night was full of quacks, those were the frogs' quack! It was a beautiful rhythm to accompany us at night.

Teacher called out my name on time. Quickly, I woke up. I thought she called for a long already and I hadn't wake up. I was wondering, did teacher sleep? I got no answer. It was true that she was a girl that couldn't wake up and definitely needed my help to shake her up. Since, there was Cambodia, we couldn't use the tap water simply as teacher mentioned it was dirty!! I got no solution, I took the hot water, really hot that was boiled and could be drunk, I used it to rinse my mouth, not even brush teeth. That heated my tongue but that was only solution. I went to the kitchen which was exposed, it was like outdoor kitchen, to help up. Teacher demonstrated us the correct way to cut the cucumber in slices and peal it, as a city girl, I couldn't do it successfully in a second! The guy suggested himself to be the one that did this. Teacher demonstrated us again to cut the 'char siew' (roasted pork?) in pieces. Slowly, I caught the skill to not to cut it too big and we took turn among three girls. I asked teacher that how many times she woke me up. Surprisingly, I got the answer once. I thought the kids should be like over 50 at least, but it ended up less than 10. Well...

It was our turn to have our breakfast, of course after I brushed my teeth. To be honest, I felt weird when I saw we were having rice early in the morning. But, just accepted it! First time tried the fried ducks' eggs, ok, it was nothing different with chickens' egg for me. I don't like the meats, so I didn't take without anyone realising, I just took more rice to balance it. After that, of course, started weeding again! Instead of following the crowd at the other way, I think it was better to Matthew (the boy that we knew at Cambodia together with David, I didn't introduce them in the first post cause I forgotten!! They were the helpers for us. Glad to know them, especially David! We knew him once we arrived at the school.) out, since he was hoeing and none went to do so. They (including David) were really expert in extirpate weed using hoe and we were like getting exhausted even just for seconds. Anyway, they both are really handsome.. (^^) We stayed active for 3 hours if not mistaken, to be sure that, we weren't work without any rest. We rest by just standing over there to straighten our waist and 2 minutes later carried on with our work. Just like the first day, I sang inside my heart, I did whatever I liked without disturbing anyone since they chose to be serious to do the work instead of have some entertainment. Finally, after 3-4hours of hard work in the early morning, had announced a stop!

We finally got to break! We had our lunch and the adults finally agree to let us rest more than what was set. We went inside the hall and start to chit-chat. The guy sitting over the gate joined our conversation. With his jokes, we got more fun. I still remember the 'class' that he taught, named '38po class' and the factors of being the 'san ba po'. Later, we went outside and played with the kids. We swung, and slowly know more children. The guy followed us and played with us including the kids. There were two kids that was quite shy, after being persuaded and convinced over and over again, they still didn't want to join. Unexpectedly, it was a rainy afternoon. We proceeded inside the hall. We had our girls talk among the four. Before continue our weeding, while it was raining, we 'jio' 2 guys to play the childhood game, the alphabet games.

Rain halted. Hands had to non-stop working again. I was lucky to join the another team to do planting job. I was very foolish to say I was the only one wearing the raincoat and somemore was plastic that can torn easily. At all costs, I still wore it even though it was already spoilt. I went crazy totally as I saw the land. The pastor instructed us to just put the stems that was provided into the soil. Someone suggest that let's barefoot to walk in the soil. Was it me who suggested? I've forgotten. What's still at the back of my mind is, I was the first one who did it. I said it was totally like foot massage along my job cause it was moist. They were scared if there was any insects, worms inside. Anyway, everyone were brave enough to barefoot!

Our team was fast enough to complete with the help of Matthew and David. I must mention that my cloth was totally went crazy like how was I. It went brownish from pale white. I had to throw this shirt that I love a lot after I went home. The weeding job hadn't done yet after we went back. No choice, we had to help them again.

Finally, it was the end of 'office hour'. We went to bath and quickly dine in to treat our stomach. Before we went to sleep, we had to do the daily reflection. That time was, pastor Matthew shared his testimony. I don't felt any surprise just it was a bit interesting.

Cambodia OCIP: #1st day

First thought of Cambodia was, it should be very dirty, complicated, lots of poor beg on the road.. But that was only thoughts! It was surprised when I  saw it actually better than Malaysia (in some cases). Not to deny that the whether, to be precise, the air, were worse over there. So, the 8-days trip made the pimples be my part of family in my face. Principal introduced us the two uncles that we had to cooperate with in the coming 8 days. Those were Uncle Ben and Uncle Paul. After awhile of waiting outside the airport, we got to sit in a van to move to Kampot (the village of Cambodia) from Phnom Penh (the capital of Cambodia) and it took almost 4 hours to reach there. But it's worthy! On the way, the 8 of us (divided into two vans) slept and awoke and slept again! Finally, we reached!

What I used to imagine was always untrue! I thought it was the very jungle style, no lines and networks for phones, the house should be like using the woods to build it. The truth was, everything different! It's better than Malaysia I guess?! We got our lunch! The pastor's mom cooked for us! You know what? It was incredibly delicious! Couldn't express using words! I was very excited when it came to mountain hiking! Although that time I was very annoyed with her as she didn't even waited for me like how she promised, but I did really enjoy the hiking! I hiked alone, purposely ran away from her eyes and pretended like nothing, enjoyed myself with the nature! I thought I would fall as I didn't use to hike, luckily I didn't. I would became the talk of the town otherwise. Until I was exhausted, I squatted and she came to me which I thought she would just walked away, she talked to me, I ignored her by only answer her questions without looking at her eyes and no jokes to her! After resting, I became full of beans! It was the time to go downhill. I was the first (spare the other boy that he could jumped or hopped during the walk). Teacher praised me that I can actually did this! I couldn't remember what she said already, but she said I got the talent that gifted when it came to mountain hiking... I was..

The real life-grabbing work finally arrived! We had to do the weeding job. Tiring but fun because of my craziness and noisiness! It was quite irritating for somebody that wanted to work in peacefulness but I chose to work in my style! I shouted for someone, I sang out loud, I told every boys that they are very handsome to give the supportive and encouraging! I know that it's kinda disgusting at that time, but who cares? At least, I don't care! Just did whatever I liked! Even teacher started to complain that I talked a lot! This work took the whole day but still couldn't finished!

Sunset came around, which means our job should have to put apart. It was the time to enjoy the dinner! As I said earlier, it was indescribable delicious! We got to bath! I had the 'shower party' with another two girls. Before we went to bed, we had to do the reflection thing which also means the feedback. That was the day!

The Preparation to Cambodia

The night before 22nd Sept, I went to my friend's house to stay overnight as I had to depend on her parents to send me to the airport due to the laziness of my mom in learning the way heading to the new airport (KLIA 2). I reached her house at 8pm something, before that we met at the petrol station as we didn't know her house. Her mom guided my mom to her house. I was down to sentimental mood after my aunt left the sentence, "take care yourself". I saw them drove off and that made me felt even worse.

After awhile 'standing' in her room, her parents brought us to The Mines as she wanted to buy some stuff that were needed to bring to Cambodia. She had a Starbucks voucher that our principal gave before the 'Talent Time' which stated 'buy 1 free 1', since she wanted to try the flavour that I used to buy, so we made it 2 cups of the same flavour (caramel hot chocolate) and she ordered both big size. That made me felt uncomfortable! Something I don't like about her characteristic is, she wanted me to act as a scapegoat of her Starbucks since her mom didn't let her consume all these stuff that contain fats and caused fat! I had to drink finish my owns in a short period of time so that my role can be played well and also the history wouldn't happen again (the Starbucks coffee split on me).

I couldn't sleep the whole night when I was at her room. First, let me describe her room. It wasn't like what I expected. I thought her room would be like the princess room. The colour of the wall should be in pink (although this doesn't match her personality), the bed should be the Queen size at least, the space of the room should be bigger than this, the room shouldn't be this messy, right? But its all untrue and inverted. Her bed is the single bed, her room was messy... But at least better than mine!! xD

I was awake until 1a.m. as I really couldn't fall asleep. For here, she used to sleep very late, sometimes 5am, as she said. Since we were very mentally and physically awake, she suggested to watch drama via laptop. We watched 'On Call 36 Hours 2 (The Hippocratic Crush II)'  until the half of the second episode. Due to her Starbucks was over split on the mattress that I slept, she on the light and her mother knew it. That was amazing that her mom got to know we were still active at that time. We had to lie on bed forcefully, and that made me slept for 1 hour I guess Zzz!!

Time flies, it was about 2am already, we got to go to the airport finally! On the way, the unlucky star fell to us; the tyre was punctured at that time. Her parents called upon our principal to drive us to the airport. That was the luckiest part of the unlucky day. They actually met us at the road. We successfully arrived airport sharp at 3am, I guess? The check-in part was the one that made me nervous as I didn't know how exactly the whole procedure goes. I was happy-go-lucky and now I realize it was not that strict! After everything got done, we aired smoothly!! I can said that I slept the whole journey in the air.

起碼可以喺Kampot(柬埔寨屬於比較鄉下嘅地方)道拔草,同啲校友接觸,一齊同甘共苦,幾ok下嘎!
